Did you know it may be more cost effective to get your apparel directly from your screen printer and embroiderer versus bringing in your own apparel? Even though you may have gotten a killer deal at your local thrift shop there are a few things to consider when bringing in your own apparel to a print shop for screen printing and embroidery.
First of all we are not perfect, I know, hard to believe but we do make mistakes, our machines make mistakes, we are not infallible. Even though we do strive for perfection and issues rarely happen we do have contingency plans in case we do encounter a quality issue. In order to make sure that you get the desired quantity that you need, we are able to order or re-order enough apparel to satisfy your order without the extra cost to you. Our customer’s only pay for what they ordered not what we order. If you do decide to bring in your own apparel then keep this in mind, and bring extra.
If cost is driving you to bring in your own apparel this next point may surprise you. When you supply the apparel we are forced to add on a service sales tax to your order over and above our regular print charges. When we order the apparel we can waive this sales tax. So if you think you may be getting a better deal bringing in your own make sure to do your math first.
Here’s a secret that you may not know about, which affects the print process, specifically water based printing. Apparel that is on sale or on clearance may be because the lot has been re-dyed. Usually this happens when they have a surplus of a color and they try altering it into a more sellable color. As much as this sounds like a great deal it’s not when you are screen printing with water based inks. These inks are designed to replace one color but aren’t intended to penetrate two, so that secondary color will be visible in your print. We only order apparel that we know is 100% true to color.
So as the saying goes if it’s too good to be true…
