When it comes to screen printing, most apparel items are printed with plastisol, which is a plastic-based ink. Here at Krillan, we are highly trained and have all the necessary equipment to create awesome shirts and other apparel using plastisol ink. However, did you know that the experts at Krillan are also trained and have the ability to print shirts using water based and discharge inks? Having this expertise is something that sets us apart from many other printing companies, and standing out is something we take seriously and pride ourselves in.

What are Water Based Inks?

Water based, or discharged, inks are comprised of – you guessed it – water and ink. This ink works by directly dying the fabric of the garment being printed, rather than laying a thin layer of plastisol directly on top of the garment. The result of using water based or discharged ink is a soft, breathable image that will last as long as the garment does. It will not crack or peel, which can happen with plastisol inks over time.

Practice Makes Perfect

In order to successfully create amazing apparel using water based inks, the printing experts at Krillan have experimented and perfected their techniques with a variety of fabrics and ink colors. Due to the fact that the ink is directly dying the fabric of the garment, screen printers who use water based inks need to have significant knowledge related to fabric types and ink reaction.

Krillan Loves Water Based Inks

We’re happy to offer water based and discharge inks to our customers for a few reasons. First of all, water based inks are much higher quality than traditional plastisol inks, resulting in a more professional-looking, longer-lasting article of clothing. Using water based inks results in clothing that is unique, comfortable, and breathable. In addition, current research also shows that water based inks are better for the environment than plastic based inks, and here at Krillan, we like to be environmentally-friendly whenever possible.
